Litigation Paralegal

Johnson Law Group is a consumer litigation law firm based in the heart of Manchester city centre.

 

We are looking for bright and enthusiastic paralegals to join our growing team of fee earners.

 

As a firm, JLG acts for consumers and businesses that have been “wronged” in some way by large corporations. We specialise in bringing large group actions against those corporations and driving high volumes of claims for financial mis-selling.

 

We always represent Claimants and, with our Texas origins, are able to bring our own unique U.S. style of mass-tort litigation to the UK legal market.

Successful candidates will assist lead GLO solicitors in running large group actions involving 10,000 individual claimants and more, as well as be involved in the day-to-day business of handling client inquiries and advising on the legal processes our clients are involved in.

 

Candidates must be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills, and a professional appearance. Candidates must also thrive under pressure when talking with clients and have an ability to calmly articulate areas of discussion.

 

Previous fee earning experience preferred but not essential.

  • Law Degree (2.1 or above)
  • LPC or similar qualification

 

Requirements (Preferred):

  • Previous experience working in a law firm as a legal clerk in a fee earning capacity (preferably in civil/commercial litigation of financial mis-selling).

 

 

Responsibilities (Day-to-Day):

  • Request, chase, organise, review and report on Data Subject Access Requests
  • Updating and liaising with clients by phone and in writing
  • Maintaining up to date diary and task list
  • Regularly and effectively chasing up all outstanding tasks
  • Actively progressing cases
  • Assist other fee earners on tasks on their cases
  • Actively assist lead solicitors working on sizeable group litigations including: handling client inquiries, cleansing defendant contact databases, reviewing client duplication data and reporting to your principal any anomalies.
  • Draft and prepare claims for formal submission to Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and for issue in court
  • Drafting long letters of advice to clients and witness statements and collating relevant enclosures from lengthy disclosure documents
  • Analysing and considering limitation (both primary and secondary) on cases
  • Carrying out case law research for your principal and reporting/presenting on the same.
  • Providing excellent customer service and communicate with clients
  • e-Filing in the High Court
  • Clearly detail and document all information in our case management system
  • Track and meet all applicable procedural, limitation and court deadlines
  • Provide status updates

 

Job Type: Full-time and fully office based.
