Tom is a Senior Associate in the London office of Johnson Law Group. His practice focuses on complex, large-scale litigation, with a particular focus on environmental and consumer group claims arising from regulatory misconduct and corporate wrongdoing. He has experience across a range of high-value disputes and practice areas.
Tom has recently been involved in multiple high-value group litigations, including the landmark “Dieselgate” Pan-NOx Litigation constituting 13 Group Litigation Orders. Acting for hundreds of thousands of claimants, Tom worked on two of the four lead cases – Peugeot/Citroën-DS and Nissan/Renault. These proceedings represent the largest group action ever to proceed through the English Courts, culminating in a 13-week multi-party liability trial.
Before moving into group action litigation, Tom spent five years as an associate at the global law firm Reed Smith, where he trained and qualified as a solicitor. During that time, he acted in substantial commercial litigation and international arbitrations under LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID rules, representing multinational corporations, sovereign entities and financial institutions. He also has experience acting on contentious regulatory matters.
Earlier in his career, Tom was seconded to both Liberty and Reprieve, where he worked on strategic public law, civil liberties and human rights litigation. This experience continues to inform his approach to complex claimant-side disputes.
