Peter Gallagher

Managing Partner

Pete is the Managing Partner of Johnson Law Group and has extensive experience in large-scale and cutting-edge group litigation.

Pete acted as the Lead Solicitor in the high-profile Pan-NOx Emissions “Dieselgate” litigation, the largest group action ever to proceed through the English courts. In that role, he has overseen strategy across multiple related claims against automotive manufacturers, coordinated a large multi-firm claimant team across 13 Group Litigation Orders, and regularly appeared before the court in case management and progress hearings on behalf of the entire claimant cohort.

Before focusing on group action litigation practice, Pete acted for a range of major corporate clients in complex domestic and international litigation at both Shearman & Sterling, where he trained, and White & Case. His experience includes acting on contentious regulatory matters as well as civil litigation.

Before starting his legal career, Pete studied at Cambridge University.

“Pete is extremely switched on and very bright. He is very good at taking decisions, understands litigation and is able to reach sensible and quick decisions” – Chambers and Partners 2025.
