Michael Burke

Michael is a Partner in the London office of Johnson Law Group, bringing 15 years’ experience in dispute resolution and civil litigation to the firm. His experience spans a wide range of practice areas, including group actions, product liability, consumer protection, and personal injury cases. He is dedicated in his pursuit of accountability and fair compensation on behalf of his clients.

Michael has most recently had conduct of multiple large value group litigations which formed part of the landmark Pan-NOx Litigation, including having conduct of the Litigation against Ford Motor Company, one of the four Lead Cases in the Pan-NOx Litigation. Michael played a prominent role in leading those cases, individually and collectively as part of the Pan NOx Litigation,  from pre-action, through to a 13 week multi-party liability trial, navigating key procedural hurdles along the way.

In addition to his role in the Pan-NOx Litigation, he played a leading role in the successful conclusion of both the British Airways data-breach group action (Weaver and others v British Airways plc [2021] EWHC 217 (QB), as well as the group action brought on behalf of Liverpool fans against UEFA, arising out of the 2022 Champions League final. He was also involved in the conduct of the VW 1 NOx Emissions Group Litigation and in the easyJet Data Breach Litigation.

In previous roles, Michael's practice has involved single-handedly conducting significant individual client matters in the fields of both financial mis-selling and personal injury, handling hundreds of litigated client matters at the same time. His client-centered approach and dedication to achieving the best possible results set him apart as a lawyer who genuinely cares about the people he serves.

Michael has also consistently held leadership roles, demonstrating his desire and ability to assist shaping and developing junior staff to allow them to fulfil their potential. He also works to ensure he consistently adds value to the firm he works for, including by realising and developing inter-departmental synergies, giving strategic input into structural decisions and by leading by example with exceptional organisational and management skills, to aid the growth of the firms that he works for.
