Job Description

Johnson Law Group is looking for a senior solicitor of 8 years+ PQE who can head up and grow a military deafness department from scratch.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious and talented litigation solicitor with military deafness experience who is looking for the next chapter in their career where they will continue to pursue claims on behalf of clients whilst being directly accountable to the firms senior management to grow and make a financial success of a brand new department.

Key Responsibilities

The right candidate will have had experience of running their own large case load of military deafness claims whilst supervising a team of fee earners handling a large volume of cases. They should have experience of mapping out and implementing case management work-flows to streamline work processes and have had responsibility for creating appropriate procedures and precedents for the same as well as rolling out training to staff in their effective use.

You will need sufficient experience in both case and department strategy to assist the firm in building and growing a military deafness department from scratch, including drawing up plans, strategy and work flows and a suite of precedents; provide financial forecasting on projected fees with attainable time frames; assist in the vetting, recruitment and onboarding ongoing training of a wide range of deafness fee earners as well as drive forward the progress and success of the department, leading from the front.

You will have had at least 8 years-experience of actively running a fully litigated case load. You will have drafted court documentation and have extensive knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules as well as evidence gathering, disclosure, drafting statements of truth and interlocutory applications. You will have managed small teams of fee earners whilst continuing to fee earn yourself and have a track record of meeting and exceeding targets and KPI’s.

You will have an in-depth working knowledge of the CPR and the requirements claimants have when bringing a claim in the County and High Court, including court issuing procedure and service of documents, Part 36 offers, disclosure, Forms H & Q, settlement orders, statement drafting, trial bundle preparation, briefing counsel, cost schedule preparation, costs negotiation and detailed assessments.

You will also have a working knowledge of relevant pre-action protocols for personal injury and deafness claims and any working schemes in place with the MOD as well as an understanding of Conditional Fee and Damages Based Agreements as well as be able to devise processes and tactics to maximise costs recovery at the end of a case.
