Vehicle Emissions Claims – Q&A
Can I claim if I have personalised number plates?
Yes. Our vehicle reg checker should still identify the vehicle. If it does not, please call one of our team to discuss your claim.
I put my number plate in, it says it’s not valid – what does this mean?
It’s likely to be because yours is one of the cars that the DVLA database has, for some reason, not recognised (sometimes it happens with Government data bases). If you’d still like to register a claim you can call one of our team and we can talk you through other ways in which you can prove ownership of that vehicle – such as finance documents.
What if you had a company car?
Your company will need to make the claim on your behalf.
Is a claim valid if it’s a second-hand car?
For the time being we are taking on all owners of cars (even those who purchased the vehicle second hand). Our reasoning behind that is the vehicle emissions stats will have been readily available to owners of second-hand vehicles who then unwittingly polluted the environment more than they thought they were. You will not however have a breach of contract claim direct against the dealership.
Is this only open to cars bought in England or across the UK?
Whilst the emissions scandal is a world wide phenomenon, we are concentrating on cars sold in England and Wales that will enable our group of clients to bring a claim collectively within the same legal jurisdiction.
Which car manufacturers are you bringing claims against?
HYUNDAI
BMW
CITROEN
FORD
JAGUAR
KIA
Mercedes
Nissan
PEUGEOT
RENAULT
VAUXHALL
